The Follow Through.

It is said that if you do not buy the lottery ticket, you will never strike the lottery. If for some reason or other we are not achieving what we hope to, not fulfilling our goals set out when we were young and in school, where all big dreams began and sad to say ended, we can only attribute it to one thing. We have not followed up on our dreams. The Follow Through! Sports men and women are familiar with this. The difference between a good sports person and a great sports person is more often than not the Follow Through. I'm absolutely sure that there a millions out there who had set out to fulfill a life long ambition or dream only to fall away because there was no follow through. The initial action was there but because of the presence of challenges and obstacles, it affects the follow through and before we know it, we give ourselves all the reason why we cannot make it. I have this nagging habit. My follow through is not good enough. I need more practice in this area. A good golfer will tell you that striking the ball is not good enough. Its the good follow through that will keep the ball on the fairway, and thus still in play. No follow through and we are either in the woods or out of bounds. Translate this to our goals. If no follow through, we are out of play and we lose a stroke or two.

"If you doubt you can accomplish something, then you can't accomplish it. You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through."

SUP,
nice piece....though I must admit ,"follow through" is a very hard act to maintain, becos of the many "other" elements that come into our lives at different stages of our life,Tony , I'm not saying that we allow this "other" things like spouses, work changes , marriage, kids,etc...etc...to not "follow through" it's just at that time need our attention absolutely, so the follow through is kept in abbeyance for a time before we get back on course and continue where we left off. It is a tough act to keep "on course" through-out our growing years, thats why we end up saying..."I should have done this or I should have gone there.."
But I'm glad you are on course and am sure will "follow through" in all your endearvours in your plans in the "club" med ??
Cheers for a great night, last night, at the NPC !

Antonio,

Aaah....great in theory. workable in practice, only if you try and try and try and try again, if you keep on failing and failing and failing.....

I have been buying all sorts of tickets hoping to win those millions of dollars so that i can buy my very own island, keep my very own harem of hunky virile lovers..

I guess I'll have to wait till I die and go to heaven where I'll meet -- NO! not the Ayatollah!

Ok...man, tomorrow I'll buy another ticket and stay on this good earth and get that harem, er, haven, on my very own island..

Heaven can wait!

I couldn't agree more. The follow through is very important. Sometimes circumstances in life can't be helped. The excuse is temporary... but I think as long as the drive is still there, one can pick up on it when opportunity presents itself.

To digress a little... NPC has karaoke sessions? May I attend one the next time I visit home? :)

It doesnt matter how many years it take to reach the dream; as long as it's reached, you have "followed through" :)

Hi Eva,
Thanks for dropping by. Buying an island huh? never thought of that. Swell idea. Be serious about this island Eva. Make it happen!

Hi JT,
If you visit the press club, the house rule is that all first timers at npc must sing at least six songs. So, no problem just drop by and get your songs ready.

Hi Winnie,
I have flawed many times. I'm still picking myself up. Still moving on, still learning to perfect the follow through.
Thanks for your comments.

Hi RG,
How are you dear friend? Hope things are working out well.
Ah! the Follow Through. So sorry if I was not so clear in trying to explain. Its just like learning to walk. Whenever we fall, we get up time and time again until we are able to walk perfectly...because we have learned to follow through and perfect what we have started.
Thanks for dropping by.

Hi Tony

Six songs for first timers at NPC... not a problem if they don't mind hearing me croak! haha

I will let you know when I am ready to take that flight home. :)
